Pilates Classes

Pilates, Exercise, Flexibility, BalancePilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance.

In this highly personal mind-body exercise system, each student will progress at his or her own rate. We focus on posture and balance, helping a student to stretch what is tight and strengthen what is weak. Pilates is a system of exercise that is beneficial and enjoyable for men and women of all ages.

Class Descriptions:

Pilates Mat Class- These mat base classes are built on the principals classes of Joseph Pilates. Pilates matwork builds your core, opens your shoulders, elongates your spine, improves alignment and balance and adds flexibility. It is truly functional fitness. The classes move with a steady flow and use small props such as the fitness circle, bands, balls and weights. Please ask for details and to find the class that fits your needs.

Pilates Barre-   Barre class takes the basic principals of Pilates and brings them into a fast paced, fun class that is 85{e77a5975f14787731688102a451e10089d6767a832e37a92f1d07031d4643c0a} standing. The ballet barre allows for challenging combinations of leg, arm and back work, creating shape and tone. The class also incorporates the use of weights, bands, balls and lively music! A good class for your heart and spirit.

Dynamic Pilates/Yoga Fusion-  This class uses the matwork of Pilates to deepen core awareness and strength. Twisting, back extensions and hip work are explored in the matwork. The class flows from mat  to standing yoga poses such as warroirs and down dog. The goal is to not only deepen awarness and strength but to increase flexiblity, balance, endurence, and the use of the breath. Pilates or yoga experience suggested. (A level 2 class)

Strong and Long, Pilates with Prop.’s–  A Pilates class built around the use of ‘prop.’s’ such as the large stability ball, the fitness circle, bands, smaller balls, weights, and other small props. The class flows from warm-ups to challenging planks and balances. Pilates experiance suggested

 Buff Bones- A Pilates based, medically endorsed, full body work out for bone strengthening and balance.We use Pilates, strength training, functional movement and rehabilitative exercises which will not only improve bones but core strength and alignment as well. A fun fast moving class.

Functional Strength- Get ready to work hard! This workout challanges all your muscle groups using body weight exercises, resistance bands, balls and a variety of training techniques. All fitness levels welcomed.
